Paul
Geluso is a New York based sound recordist, musician, engineer
and educator.
Since the release of his first recording in 1992, he has been credited
on hundreds of LPs,CDs, Films, Videos, Radio and TV Broadcasts.
As a composer of electro-acoustic music and sound artist, his original works have been installed at Art In
General, The New
Museum, The Storefront for Art and Architecture, Gale Gates Et Al, the
Stable, the Cooper-Hewitt School of Design, London's SPACE gallery, the
Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo and the DUMBO arts
festival. His
work has been reviewed
in
publications including The Wire, The Village Voice and The New York
Times. As the chief audio
engineer for Harvestworks
Digital Media Arts for more than a decade, he has been emersed in
the art world, working with emerging and established media
artists who use sound in their creative work. Since
1999 Paul has been composing electro-acoustic dance scores
for j mandle
performance,
an experimental arts organization that creates
public site specific performances. Recent
awards include individual
artist grants from the New York State Council on the Arts and Meet the
Composer. Currently, he is performing
live with his
electro-acoustic music trio ATOM 3,
developing surround sound software for
Digidesign’s Pro Tools with Audio Research Labs, producing
music and experimental multi-channel recordings. Paul
continues to teach Music
Technology at New York University, directing the Stephen
F Temmer Tonmeister Seminar, specializing in stereo and surround
techniques for
recording acoustic
music. He has also taught audio arts at Bard College, The Peabody
Institute, Harvestworks Dgital Media Arts, and SUNY
Oneonta. Paul holds a Bachelor of
Science in Electrical Engineering and a Masters of Music in Music
Technology. He and his wife Aliki live in the Catskill region of
New York
state where he is owner and operator of Riverglass Mastering.
